My parents stayed married until my father died (in 2002). We weren't abused in any way. My siblings were brats growing up but they're all fairly normal in their own idiosyncratic ways now. We all shy away from creating drama in our lives and tend to live pretty quietly.
I suppose I'd have to say that the most drama I've had in my personal life was over a year ago when I made waves in the media to report a con man who'd bilked me out of $20. I could have let that go, but felt it was my civic duty to get the word out about him when I found out he'd done it to other people before me.
But for now my schedule is quiet and I can do things like meditate on how lucky/normal my life is. I get to mostly do things I enjoy, I don't have to wear uncomfortable clothing all day long, I get to structure my days for myself (for the most part). So my car's having starter issues and money's tight and my husband's been stuck in a "mid-life crisis" for the past 5 years. We're not on the nightly news or "Dr. Phil." That's got be a good sign.
*At 14 I spent 5 weeks in the hospital receiving intravenous treatment for a bone infection in my ankle.
